After much debate, David Coulthard has been disqualified from the Brazilian
GP. The front wings of his car were apparently too close to the ground. The
rules state that they should be 50mm off the ground, with a 5mm leeway for
error. In actual fact on Coulthard's car the wing was 43mm off the ground,
and hence his car was 2mm outside of the tolerance limits.
The official race result had still not been confirmed, even after all the
interviews had been given and some of the driver's were already boarding
their flights back to Europe. FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer was examining
the race winning cars, and had doubts over the plank thickness of five of the
top six cars. Eventually his focus was narrowed to Coulthard alone.
