Jeff Jarrett Federation, Goldberg's Return, Sting, & More
-- Former WWF and WCW employee, as well as long-time wrestling businessman Jerry Jarrett, who is known to the "new" generation of wrestling fans as Jeff Jarrett's father, is finalizing deals to create what is expected to be the most serious threat to the WWF pay-per view industry.
-- Unlike the XWF, WWA, or past WWF competition like WCW or ECW, Jerry Jarrett's promotion is not concerned with television and is going to have a weekly pay-per view program at $9.95 on InDemand. That deal was finalized, and the weekly pay-per view shows are expected to start on June 19 of this year.
-- Jerry's son, Jeff Jarett, will co-own the promotion as well as wrestle in it. As far as the other talent for the federation is concerned, nothing is officially confirmed at this time. Many consider Jerry Jarrett's past reputation as being willing to put it all on the line and spend money when needed a contributing factor to seeing a lot of the major free agents signed. At this point Goldberg, Sting, and anyone else still under AOL/Time Warner contract are not a major option, but are definitely there if the promotion is structured right to the point where some name-brand talent would give them the boost needed.
-- Apparently this promotion will focus a lot on general wrestling. There are a lot of fans of professional wrestling who have no option to fixing their crave of textbook wrestling programs. Promotions such as WWF and WWA lean too much towards the "sports entertainment" feel of wrestling, while promotions like XPW are too "hardcore" for the casual wrestling fans taste. The promotion by Jerry Jarrett is expected to have a lot of great Cruiserweight talent that will be spotlighted and featured accordingly.
-- The promotion has no plans on finding a television network to run their programs on, but as mentioned above, will merely use the weekly pay-per view show to their advantage. Matches, interviews, produced features, and storylines will be aired commercial-free in a weekly two-hour $9.95 series on InDemand. InDemand is expected to take on more original series to become a serious competitor of HBO and Showtime who produce many quality original programs that have grown to gain a large fan-base.
