Battlefield Earth will soon be reaching an even wider international audience through the wonders of Japanese animation. Pine Com International of Tokyo will produce 13 one-hour animated television segments based on L. Ron Hubbard’s best-selling science fiction novel, under a new licensing agreement with Author Services, Inc.
A high profile company in the extremely successful and expanding Japanese animation industry, with experience in both TV Animation and game production, Pine Com has already announced plans to begin worldwide distribution of the animated Battlefield Earth series in spring 2002.

Because the technology of digital animation is integrated with other forms of popular entertainment, the licensing deal with Pine Com also includes the rights for interactive computer games, toys, DVD applications, a “magna” graphic comic book and a major full-length animated movie. (Games are scheduled for a Summer 2001 release.)

ASI Senior Vice President Javier Ruiz believes animation will add a major new dimension to the Battlefield Earth universe: “The epic scope, multiple plots, rich diversity of characters and settings of L. Ron Hubbard’s fast action adventure novel make it ideal for a television animation series and the many other forms of entertainment that follow from that format. We are very pleased to be working with Pine Com International and its affiliated companies to further meet the growing demand for properties based on L. Ron Hubbard’s Battlefield Earth".
