Fergie's View: Manchester City reaction

Sir Alex Ferguson was not best pleased when he spoke
to MUTV after the Derby defeat against Manchester City at
Maine Road. This is what he had to say...
Disappointing display
"We're disappointed today - we're not happy about it. We've
under-achieved it's as simple as that. I think that if we
underachieve then we have to assess the situation. We're not
happy about it. They got a bollocking in there, and quite rightly. I
feel for the fans. At moments like this I wonder if I should let
them in the dressing room and let the players here them because
I know how disappointed they will be in the side, as much as my
staff and me will be. We work hard in preparing them for games
like today, as we have always done, and I think they have let us down."
Conceding easy goals
"It was a kick in the teeth. In that period in the first half where we dominated the game, you
have got to take advantage of that. I felt that if we had scored in that period we would
probably have won the match. But their second goal gave them a lift, it gave them impetus at
a period where the crowd were beginning to get at them."
Poor second half performance
"I felt that the match was decided in the first twenty minutes of the second half. Their third
goal was an absolutely ridiculous goal to lose, maybe even worse than the second one if
you analyse it properly. At 3-1 down away from home and in a Derby game it's going to be
very difficult."
Lack of concentration
"We had a lot of chances but it doesn't take away from our lack of concentration in our
game."
Getting a reaction
"Whatever we do after this game we will do it on the training field. This is not the place to
discuss it, it won't be done in public, but we are not happy, and neither are my staff. And
why should we be. We'll get a reaction all right."
Tough league
"There's no hiding the fact that we have lost three games before Christmas. It's a tough
league, mistakes will be made, but we can't afford to make them."
Reacting to pressure
"We have always reacted well to pressure in the past, so we'll see if that is the case in the
future."
