1.1 ...In the interests of equality, the educationists long ago abandoned the fascination of what's difficult. They now aim, in Tony Blair's ludicrously silly phrase of this week's grand announcements for education, at Excellence For All...
1.2 ...If our Prime Minister is so illiterate that he cannot immediately see the absurdity of that phrase, and its ignorant egalitarian contradiction in terms, if he has such a tin ear for language that he cannnot hear it, how can the wretched victims of state schooling expect to deal with foreign refinements of meaning?...
1.3 ...The British are being reduced to inarticulacy in all languages, including their own; I am afraid that Europeans, and their education systems, are following all too closely behind. These seem to me to be precisely the kind of questions ambassadors ought to be raising; vielen Dank, et merci beaucoup...
***
2.1 ...She died at a moment when her personal life had brightened and her public life seemed to be making progress. "Unthinkable", people said when they heard of the news of Princess Diana's death, but few families altogether escape such tragedies. Though treated yesterday as barely more than a sideline, the death of Dodi Al Fayed is a tragedy too...
2.2 ...More and more, their story has become a kind of rich psychological drama, more dripping even than any soap opera because its people really exist...
2.3 ...She came to all this hopelessly unprepared; sweet, shy, gauche, somewhat untutored, plucked from nowhere at 19 to be the bride of the heir to the thtone, in the sort of transformation one doesn't expect outside bedtime stories...
2.4 ...As things came apart, she had several options. One - which she briefly chose, but soon abandoned - was to pull out of public life and go into hiding; a second, simply to carry on with the life she wanted and do her best to survive the constant, unrelenting exposure; the third, to turn that exposure to positive use by enlisting it to promote her favourite causes. This last one she did to huge beneficial effect...
2.5 ...And now the princess takes her place in the long and melancholy record of queens and princesses who led sad lives and met still sadder deaths. She will enter into legend, where it may come to be said of her that she met the fate which so often awaits those who fly too near to the sun...

1.2. if he has such a tin ear for language that he cannnot hear it - след като той има толкова лош езиков слух, как тогава ...
1.3. are following all too closely behind -
2.1. Though treated yesterday as barely more than a sideline -
2.2. rich psychological drama, more dripping even than any soap opera because its people really exist... -
2.3. ...She came to all this hopelessly unprepared; sweet, shy, gauche, somewhat untutored, plucked from nowhere at 19 to be the bride of the heir to the thtone, in the sort of transformation one doesn't expect outside bedtime stories...
2.4. This last one she did to huge beneficial effect... -
2.5. She will enter into legend, where it may come to be said of her - Тя обаче ще стане легенда, в която ще се казва...

An untranslatable text would be a Chinese proverb scribbled on the back of a raging tiger.
