I don't think you should be that worried - this only means the long-awaited end of Shimano's MTB monopoly is near...
You don't like XT 2004?
Bottom brackets - go RaceFace
Cranksets / chainrings - go RaceFace
brakes - go Avid/Hayes/Magura
shifters/drivetrain - go SRAM - they only have to produce nice trigger shifters...
hubs - go DT/ChrisKing,etc...
in two words - *UCK Shimano!!!
And I hardly imagine US manufacturers' 2004 aftermarket prices will be higher than Shimano's... they'd be stumbling fools if they don't grab the beast by the balls...

Actually a nice advice from you!
Hey everybody, READ the two words from bikerider!
But there is still a little problem I think... OK, I have already shifted to FSA crankset and BB, have already Ringle hubs and rims, Louise brakes and Time Z Control pedals. Indeed all this works extremely well on my bike, but what about the other parts of the drivetrain? I can bet on my life that SRAM will NEVER design proper trigger shifters, they still not have front derailleurs and they still make more fashion than function or strenght with their rear mechs (XO especially).
So what to do? Buying parts from 5 or 6 manufacturers isn't the same thing like buying from one from service point of view. The bike becomes a mess of different parts with no warranty or a chance for proper service and THIS is a real problem for me... Initially I hoped to combine the new Saint group (the oversized Centerlock makes much more sense than her weakish XTR sister, the rear mech's axle mount is a really good idea and he other parts of this half-a-group seem to be as strong as they look) with the shifters from the new XT, but now I'm forced to realize that there is no chance to obtain something diffterent than the misconstructed dual shifters FU**!
P.S. You can write in Bulgarian of course! Meanwhile I can cope with cyrillic written text, but don't ask me to write in Bulgarian - it takes toooooo much time

Offtopic: Кои курбели на FSA ползваш, X-Drive, V-Drive или други? Смятам да купувам X-Drive и събирам мнения...
Ontopic:
Ако държиш на trigger shifter-и предполагам, че Shimano няма да въведат новата система при всички компонентни групи... Ако пък те е срам да ползваш нещо от по-нисък от XT клас - мини на SRAM и се научи да ползваш gripshift :))). С депласьорите пък номера е да купуваш възможно най-евтиния вариант, и да сменяш колкото често се налага :). Макар че аз лично вече 7-8 месеца безуспешно се опитвам да счупя един депласьор 5.0, който е 95% пластмаса. За сравнение предшестващия го 9.0 го скърших точно през двете метални рамена при едно доста леко падане.

Ontopic: V-Drive Bash with X-Drive BB (I'm just a girl, don't forget it) :-))))
Offtopic: The main problem of the new XT is the RapidRise ONLY feature of the rear mech - accordind to the rumours. I'm NOT a climber! I'm a DESCENDER! And don't tell me again about gripshift please - for me that's the most foolish thing in the history of ATB/MTB by date...

Чак пък most foolish... При правилна употреба gripshift-а няма грешка :).
