On 7.7.07 more than two billion people will come together during Live Earth. That number is unfathomable - more than one-fourth of the world’s population will participate in a single event and demand a solution to the climate crisis. This unique moment presents us with a unique choice.

1. To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;

2. To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become "carbon neutral;"

3. To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2;

4. To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation;

5. To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal;

6. To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and,

7. To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.

Не съм дошъл в Америка за да живея в мизерия.

вярваш на небивалици, казани от човек който нанася повече вреда на околната среда отколкото цяло село реднеци с тръковете си.

Не съм проучвала въпроса с къщата а Ал Гор. Може и точно така да е-може да е по-вредна от село ред-неци.Но не е въпросът в това. Не е важно Ал Гор какъв е, а е важно да се обърне внимание на глобалното затопляне и възможно най-голям хора, и особено правителства, и най-вече правителството на щатите да се заеме с намаляване на вредата, която причиняваме.Супер тъпо е да се каже-понеже Ал Гор е неморален,значи няма нужд аникой нищо да прави за природата и този въпрос не съществува.

Алармистите имат своя политическа цел. Трябва да си ненормален за да ги приемаш на сериозно. Абсурдно е да се мисли, че 4-те % произвеждани от хората газове могат да изменят климата. Климата не е константа и слънцето няма ТЕРМОСТАТ.

При това най-големите замърсители са Индия и Китай, кото са изключени от Киото пртокол. Дори и ООН-то (дето най много политика прави) започна де е песимист.

И цялата тази аларма е за 2 градуса след 100 години. Ако е така ще харчим по малко за отопление ($0.001).

Правилно е казано тук - само ПОЛИТИЧЕСКИ МОТИВИРАНИ ОЛИГОФРЕНИ могат да се вълнуват от подобна псевдонаука.

според мен пък е абсурдно да се мисли,че индустрията и това, което правят хората не влияе на земята и на нещата,които се случват. То бива денайъл, ама това е вече налудно отричане на фактите.

3. Даже 1 и 2 да не са истина, крайния резултат не е известен, може земния климат като цяло да претърпи положителна промяна.

Флуктуация е, разбира се, в това е проблемът. След такива флуктуации, само че много по-малки, са настъпвали ледниковите периоди на земята.

2.да кажеш,че човешкото влияние върху затоплянето е недоказано е все едно ти и аз да седим на ръба на големия канион, аз да те бутна, ти да паднеш и след това да кажа невинно--не е доказано,че натискът който оказах върху него е причината той да падне.Аз наистина оказах натиск-това е доказано, той наистина падна-това е факт, но никой не е установил научно,че има връзка между двете. Егати наглото малоумие. Това може да дойде само от наглеци като бушистите.

3. крайният резултат е неизвестен, но на базата на минал опит, се знае,че след такива затопляния, следват резки застудявания, защото планетата се саморегулира.Тия неща са ставали многократно в последните милион години и резултатите се отчитат в слоевете лед на полюсите.До сега не е имало толкова голямо затопляне на планетата-никога. Опитай се да си представиш какво ще стане след като при многократно по-малки затопляния са идали ледени епохи.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in recognition of the problem of global warming. Through the IPCC, climate experts from around the world synthesize the most recent climate science findings every five to seven years and present their report to the world’s political leaders. The IPCC has issued comprehensive assessments in 1990, 1996, and 2001; its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) is scheduled for release in 2007.


Highlights from Working Group I

The IPCC reported in February 2007 that it is “very likely” (>90 percent) that heat-trapping emissions from human activities have caused “most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century.” The IPCC based its projections of further climate change on six scenarios that assume various increases in concentrations of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere. The IPCC projects temperature increases by the end of the century in the range of ~2°F (1.1°C) to ~11.5°F (6.4°C).[3]

Global Climate Coalition

Founded in 1989 by 46 corporations and trade associations representing all major elements of US industry, the GCC presents itself as a "voice for business in the global warming debate." The group funded several flawed studies on the economics of the cost of mitigating climate change, which formed the basis of their 1997/1998 multi-million dollar advertising campaign against the Kyoto Protocol. The GCC began to unravel in 1997 when British Petroleum withdrew its membership. Since then many other corporations have followed BP s lead and left the coalition. This exodus reached a fevered pitch in the early months of 2000 when DaimlerChrysler, Texaco and General Motors all announced their exodus from the GCC. Since these desertions, the GCC restructured and remains a powerful and well-funded force focused on obstructing meaningful efforts to mitigate climate change.

Spin: Global Warming is real, but it is too expensive to do anything about. The Kyoto Protocol is fundamentally flawed.

Funding: Corporate members (industries, trade associations etc.)






George Marshall Institute

This conservative think tank shifted its focus from Star Wars to climate change in the late 1980s. In 1989, the Marshall Institute released a report claiming that "cyclical variations in the intensity of the sun would offset any climate change associated with elevated greenhouse gases." Though refuted by the IPCC, the report was very influential in influencing the Bush Sr. Administration s climate change policy. The Marshall Institute has since published numerous reports downplaying the severity of global climate change.


Spin: Blame the Sun. The Kyoto Protocol is fatally flawed.

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine


The Marshall Institute co-sponsored with the OISM a deceptive campaign -- known as the Petition Project -- to undermine and discredit the scientific authority of the IPCC and to oppose the Kyoto Protocol. Early in the spring of 1998, thousands of scientists around the country received a mass mailing urging them to sign a petition calling on the government to reject the Kyoto Protocol. The petition was accompanied by other pieces including an article formatted to mimic the journal of the National Academy of Sciences. Subsequent research revealed that the article had not been peer-reviewed, nor published, nor even accepted for publication in that journal and the Academy released a strong statement disclaiming any connection to this effort and reaffirming the reality of climate change. The Petition resurfaced in 2001.

Spin: There is no scientific basis for claims about global warming. IPCC is a hoax. Kyoto is flawed.

Funding: Petition was funded by private sources.

Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP)

Founded in 1990 by widely publicized climate skeptic S. Fred Singer, SEPP s stated purpose is to "document the relationship between scientific data and the development of federal environmental policy." SEPP has mounted a sizeable media campaign -- publishing articles, letters to the editor, and a large number of press releases -- to discredit the issues of global warming, ozone depletion, and acid rain.

Spin: Moreover, climate change won t be bad for us anyway. Action on climate change is not warranted because of shaky science and flawed policy approaches.

Funding: Conservative foundations including Bradley, Smith Richardson, and Forbes. SEPP has also been directly tied to ultra right-wing mogul Reverend Sung Myung Moon s Unification Church, including receipt of a year s free office space from a Moon-funded group and the participation of SEPP s director in church-sponsored conferences and on the board of a Moon-funded magazine.

Greening Earth Society

The Greening Earth Society (GES) was founded on Earth Day 1998 by the Western Fuels Association to promote the view that increasing levels of atmospheric CO2 are good for humanity. GES and Western Fuels are essentially the same organization. Both used to be located at the same office suite in Arlington, VA. Until December 2000, Fred Palmer chaired both institutions. The GES is now chaired by Bob Norrgard, another long-term Western Fuels associate. The Western Fuels Assocation (WFA) is a cooperative of coal-dependent utilities in the western states that works in part to discredit climate change science and to prevent regulations that might damage coal-related industries.




Spin: CO2 emissions are good for the planet; coal is the best energy source we have.

Funding: The Greening Earth Society receives its funding from the Western Fuels Association, which in turn receives its funding from its coal and utility company members.

The Union of Concerned Scientists report, Smoke, Mirrors & Hot Air: How ExxonMobil Uses Big Tobacco's Tactics to "Manufacture Uncertainty" on Climate Change, details how ExxonMobil has adopted the tobacco industry's disinformation tactics, as well as some of the same organizations and personnel, to cloud the scientific understanding of climate change and delay action on the issue. According to the report, ExxonMobil has funneled nearly $16 million between 1998 and 2005 to a network of 43 advocacy organizations that seek to confuse the public on global warming science.
