It is a complex question, since there are lots of variations in scissors and body types.
As I explainen in the past, biomechanically speaking a scissors is a "kinetic closed chain":the legs are "fixed" against each other,and, in the case of straight scissors, pressure is increased by the synergic action of the lower body muscles.
Inside the thighs "pressure" can easily reach very elevated levels, and therefore a scissors hold can be and IS a dangerous hold for the human body (for instance,the body-scissors has been banned in judo, because it is too dangerous).
That kind of force can cause damage to the body in different ways, like bone breaking and dislocation, blood strangulation, air strangulation, and, in the extreme, even death.
Bone breaking can easily occur for ribs, expecially fluctuating ribs.
A figure 4 with pelvic thrust can snap bones, because of the huge power generated by the gluteus in this kind of hold (it works a bit like a bottle opener).
Blood and air strangulation are deadly (if prolonged) in neck scissors: it actually takes a little more than 3 kg of pressure on the carotid arteries to cut the blood flow to the brain.
Probably the most interesting question is if the "Xenia Onatopp" squeeze can be really deadly.
It CAN, even if the most deadly kind of body scissors is a combination of straight and figure 4: the woman starts with a figure 4, pulling the victim very close to her, very deep inside her legs, then starts to squeeze, until there is practically no space and her legs are coiled around the body like a python.
After about 30 seconds, when the body is already compressed, keeping pressure with her abductors, the woman straightens her legs, therefore crushing an already compressed body.
More air comes out, and she consolidates in an even tighter figure 4, to switch to straight again, and so on, each time stealing more and more breathing space.
WIth a strong squeezer,after the second "switch" you can't breath.
A python does something like this, and the victim cannot expand its lungs after the third squeeze.
I have tried to explain what happen in a not too technical and boring and, hopefully, concise way.
