New moon solar eclipse - 8.04.2005

Eclipses: A Beloved Pope Dies and A Royal Couple Weds

A letter from Susan Miller of Astrology Zone
http:://[линк]

April 7, 2005

Dear Astrology Zone Reader,

The first eclipses of 2005 are due to arrive in April, so
it should be a big month! If you found March fraught with
delays and frustrations, April should be just the
opposite—watch events to start soon and move at the speed of light!

The new moon solar eclipse arrived on April 8 in Aries. The
full moon lunar eclipse will occur on April 24 in Scorpio.
Give each date a tolerance of a plus or minus one week
because news doesn’t always “hit” exactly on the date the
eclipse appears. Months that hold eclipses are always vital
months to watch because they tend to bring some of the year’s
biggest news. (The next set of two eclipses will come in
October—the other big month of 2005!)

You may want to watch May 8 and May 24, plus or minus four
days, for those dates will be linked to April’s eclipses
too. Although most people notice changes in the days
surrounding the eclipses, occasionally news will not manifest until
a full month later.

In other, more rare, instances, the message of the eclipse
won’t be delivered until Mars passes directly over the path
of the eclipse. Should this be the case for you, you will
notice events happening on or near July 10, plus or minus
eight days. You might want to make a note of that date on
your calendar as well.

Eclipses are one of my favorite subjects because they are
some of the strongest tools that the universe can use to
create life-altering change. They tend to bring big, memorable
events that we long remember. For example, you may be
awarded a grand promotion or start a business. You may publish a
book, buy a house or get married.

On the flip side, you may lose your a job (hopefully, it
will be one you never liked) or decide to break up with your
partner if you see no future together. There are many
possibilities, but news always seems to be sudden. That’s
because outside factors beyond your control will come into play
at eclipse time and play a dynamic role in your decisions.
Those outside conditions may help you see a situation with
greater clarity. If an eclipse is well angled to your
planets, you are more likely to like what ensues. Keep in mind,
even good news, like welcoming a new baby to the family,
will bring a need for adjustment.

If you have been afraid to make a decision and have let
things languish, an eclipse may take the decision out of your
hands—in effect, the eclipse will choose the outcome for
you. Of course, that’s not ideal, so if you see an eclipse
coming, it’s best to put your cards on the table weeks and
months before it arrives. Don’t be afraid of making a
mistake. Everyone fails sometimes—those who stand up and dust
themselves off to try again are the ones who win the race.

It’s usually best not to act directly on the date of an
eclipse because other events, ones out of your control, may
interfere with what is going on at the time. Price Charles
found that out—he had to move his wedding date. I wish he had
chosen a date far from the eclipse because moving the date
only one day was not far enough to take the wedding out of
the path of the eclipse. I see heavy responsibility coming
to the Prince in his new life with Camilla. I feel he
supposes his life with Camilla to be very similar to what they
have enjoyed in the past, but that does not seem to be the
case at all. Saturn is in hard angle to the Sun, so that’s
sure to put duty before fun, not quite the date I would have
chosen for the Prince.

The astrological adage is that if you act on an eclipse,
things may not to work out quite as you imagine they will.
They may turn out better or worse, but they will certainly be
different. You will probably have to renegotiate or change
a certain element later. That’s why it’s best to REACT to
an eclipse but not to INITIATE on an eclipse. However, if
someone OFFERS you something (like a new job), then you can
certainly accept the offer because that job offer came to
you. Even if you initiated the opportunity weeks ago, it
would still OK to accept. (When you do accept, hopefully
Mercury will no longer be retrograde—see your monthly forecast
for April—there is a discussion about THAT!) It’s best not to
start divorce proceedings, buy a house or make any other
assertive actions at eclipse time. You will want to do so,
because as said, big life events tend to happen around those
times. If you need to do so, then go with the flow, and
know you may have to make adjustments later.

After an eclipse appears, you will see your timetable move
forward, perhaps in a startling way. For example, let’s say
you planned to change jobs in three years. After an eclipse
comes by in your tenth house of your profession, new
conditions may force you to change your mind and look for a new
job immediately. Or, let’s say you have been dating someone
who you plan to marry “someday.” Under an eclipse, your
partner may be offered a job in Europe—you want to go along
and live there together, so you suddenly decide to marry,
almost immediately. Things like that happen under eclipses.

Eclipses always fall on new moons or full moons. This year
we will have the typical number of eclipses, four, with two
arriving April and two in October. A solar eclipse will
always coincide with a new moon, and a lunar eclipse will
always coincide with a full moon. A solar eclipse will pack the
strength of three new moons, just like a lunar eclipse will
pack the punch of three full moons—and that’s A LOT of
power! With all eclipses something ends and something else
begins.

As you listen to the news that friends and relatives have
to share, you will see that eclipses bring major life events
to their lives, too. This month it will seem that so many
people will have big news to announce!

Take seriously any message you hear in your personal life
at the time of an eclipse. There usually is no way to get a
situation reversed—at least not immediately. If you don’t
like the news that you receive, work THROUGH the changes and
make new decisions and adjustments later.

If you know that the degrees of the eclipse will touch your
Sun, rising sign or other planets in your chart, you will
see a rather large seismic shift. In Astrology Zone® I
always mention the birthdays of the signs that will feel the
eclipse most. If you don’t know your ascendant (also called a
rising sign) you need to have your natal chart done to find
out.

As mentioned earlier, if you have Aries or Scorpio rising,
you might feel the effects of this month’s eclipses more
directly than other members of your sign, no matter what sign
that happens to be. If that turns out to be the case, you
would have to have Aries rising at 19 degrees, or Scorpio
rising at 4 degrees. Allow a plus or minus tolerance of five
degrees to feel the eclipses this month.

Try to take a few notes about what happens at eclipse time.
Doing empirical research is very important, for in time you
will get to know which eclipses touched you the most, and
you can watch for those eclipses in the future. A family of
eclipses will come by for 18-24 months, appearing every six
months, and then end. They are repeated every nine years,
but an exact duplicate of the eclipse won’t occur for 19
years. Right now we are experiencing eclipses in the
Aries-Libra family, and they will continue into March 2006. At the
end of this month, on April 24, we will see the very last
eclipse in the Taurus-Scorpio family.

So you see, the April 8 eclipse that is happening now last
came by in exact degree on April 8, 1986. Of course, the
other planets surrounding the eclipse have changed. Still, if
you can recall what happened in your life back then, you
might be able to see a theme emerge.

Keep in mind it is not so much WHAT happens to you as what
you choose to DO about it that matters. Ultimately, the
decision you make will reveal your character, values and
goals. This is a very important point. We all have challenges
and opportunities, but what we do about them is what shapes
and defines our true identity.

We have all heard very dramatic news in recent days, for
solar eclipses, such as what is happening on April 8 are
almost always associated with royalty, pomp and circumstance,
or important leaders or celebrities.

As we approach the solar eclipse on April 8, we mourn the
passing of the beloved Pope John Paul II; we anticipate the
marriage of Prince Charles to Camilla on April 9, and we
also mourn the death of Prince Rainier of Monaco on April 6.
We were also saddened to hear the news about the trusted
journalist, Peter Jennings of ABC News, who has lung cancer.
There may still be more big news on the way this month.

The reason we often hear about kings, great leaders and
celebrities around eclipses, especially solar eclipses, is
that the Sun is associated with authority, leadership and
royalty. The link with royalty was borne out with Princess
Diana, too—she married right on an eclipse, had her first-born
future king of England, William, on an eclipse, and
ultimately she died on an eclipse. John F. Kennedy, Jr. died
within two weeks of the partial lunar eclipse, and he was as
close to royalty as we had in America.

Health problems often come up at eclipse time; they are not
caused by the eclipse, but rather illuminated by them so
that you can go for help and recover. Should anything come
up, it is a sign that the universe is trying to help you by
urging you to get the help you need.

I was so very sorry to see the passing of Pope John Paul
ll. His funeral is to be precisely on the eclipse, April 8.

It appears that the College of Cardinals will come to
agreement on the appointment of the successor to the Pope at the
lunar eclipse, April 24, plus or minus three days. That
second eclipse will be in Scorpio, a sign that is associated
with religion, rebirth and complete transformation. Lunar
eclipses are more emotional, for our memories, dreams and
desires are stirred up at these lunar events. As you may have
noted, I said earlier that April 8 or 9 was not a good time
for Prince Charles to marry—his mother is not attending the
wedding.

We feel sadness at this time (due to Saturn’s angle to this
eclipse), and that was see in the weeping of so many people
for Pope John Paul II. Speaking of the Pope, let’s turn our
discussion to his life.

Pope John Paul II was born on May 18, 1920. Lois Rodden’s
website, which is known for its accuracy, lists the time of
the Pope’s birth to be 17:30 (5:30 PM) EET (-2:00) in
Wadowice, Poland. (Latitude/Longitude: 49 N 53/19 E 30)

If you look at the Pope’s natal chart, you'll see his Sun
is in the eighth house. People born with this configuration
often become even more famous after they die than during
their lifetime. They seem to make a large contribution to the
world that lives far beyond their years.

Pope John Paul II had a chart filled with fixed signs, the
sign of a leader of enormous inner conviction. Many
planets, including the Sun and natal moon, were found in Taurus, a
sign that teaches the value of remaining true to
traditional goals. The time of birth given would give Libra rising, a
sign that is superb at forming relationships and for
skilled diplomacy. Certainly the Pope’s legacy attests to that as
well. Many attribute the fall of communism to be one of the
Pope’s most notable accomplishments.

Certainly the Pope was a superb communicator, and he had a
remarkable ability to link people of different backgrounds
and nationalities to a common denominator—that of the need
for universal love. He engendered enormous respect from
leaders based in very diverse countries. Tonight it was
reported that the Pope’s funeral has attracted the largest human
gathering of people in the history of the world.

The outpouring of emotion for the Pope made me remember the
legendary conjunction of planets that occurred on May 4,
2000. At that time, there were no less than SEVEN heavenly
bodies stacking up in Taurus—an extraordinary event not to be
seen again in our lifetime. We often see three or four
planets in one sign, but seven? Seven is incredibly rare.
Included in this conjunction were the Sun and new moon, Venus,
Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars.

A conjunction of two or more planets is considered to be
the start of a cycle. With a stack-up of seven planets in
Taurus, results from this conjunction would literally play out
for decades and decades.

Many people felt that eventually a Taurus, or “Taurus type”
would make a great contribution to the world or give us a
strong clue of what the theme of the new millennium would be
about. At that time, I remember wracking my brain, trying
to pinpoint a name of a Taurus leader who might be “the one”
but no one came to mind.

I remember feeling that the idea that the cosmic choice of
a Taurus to be the role model or pathfinder of the new
millennium seemed, well, a bit random. I would have expected
almost any other sign to be named instead of a Taurus. Taurus
doesn’t like to change things—this sign’s motto is “If it’s
not broken, don’t fix it.” It didn’t seem very fitting for
the one who would set the tone for a whole new millennium!
Yet the universe knows best, and by creating a conjunction
in Taurus, the universe was speaking loud and clear!

At the time (back in 2000), as I pondered this cosmic
riddle, I wondered if the message might be that as a society we
should think less about what we should change and a bit
more about the values we want to cherish and maintain. Could
that be the message in the legendary conjunction of seven
planets in Taurus?

I was confused, and unable to come up with any answers that
made sense to me. I put this meditation aside. It continued
to play in the back of my mind however, and I think I
unconsciously kept searching for an answer. I assumed someone
would appear out of the blue, but now I think it was that
this person was always there but we didn’t notice his growing
stature.

This week, out of curiosity, I looked at Pope John Paul
II’s chart. Of course! He has the planetary build up in Taurus
that would qualify him as a fine candidate for the role of
precursor of the new millennium as was indicated by the May
4, 2000 conjunction. Somehow, I had forgotten to consider
the Pope. (I am Catholic, so I should have at least
considered him!)

Watching more than the millions of pilgrims stream past his
casket was awe-inspiring. In the United States, we always
think of our President as all-powerful but watching TV this
week, I came to the conclusion that the Pope held much more
power than any head of state. His message was deeper and
more universal, because it centered on the need for love and
respect for our fellow man.

When Pope John Paul ll visited New York in 1979, I saw him
in his little Pope-mobile, which rode by only a few feet
from where I was standing. I got a very good view and I was
amazed how powerfully the Pope radiated life, energy and
sincere warmth. He wore his white robes and waved, and was
smiling. It must have been very hard work to appear in front
of so many people, especially at his advanced age, but if it
was, he didn’t show it.

He had taken office when he was 58 years old (a Saturn
return) and I read reports that he worked hard because he felt
he had very little time to accomplish all that he needed to
do. As Pope he covered 129 countries. Astounding! That kind
of hard work inspires me.

By respecting other religions and by being an outspoken
advocate for human rights, he rose to the status of a major
spiritual leader of the 20th century, if not THE spiritual
leader. Apparently, he touched the heart of millions of
people on this planet. Although some of us didn’t always agree
with every one of the Pope’s views on all of subjects, we
loved and respected him all the same. Someone on the radio
put it this way—“We may not have always liked the tune, but
we all loved the musician.” I am so sorry to hear of his
passing.

There may be many more changes this month, so we might all
need to keep our antennas up. May all the changes that come
to your life be important improvements.
