A question to Jon
Dear Jon,
I found very intriguing the fact that an American solder would write in a Bulgarian forum and I have read your writings (topic: A reply from a US soldier to Batko) and the replies to them with great interest. I won't write down my personal views now, although I am really tempted to do so, because it will take lots of time, which I don't have right now. Unfortunately.
But, if you let me to ask a (probably very naive
) question:
Could, you, please, explain to me HOW exactly the US army will disarm Saddam via this military action?
Here are my guesses:
1. You (I mean the US army) will find these hidden weapons (which were not found by the UN inspectors) and will destroy them.
2. You will get rid of Saddam, the democracy will flourish in Iraq and the new government/president will disarm voluntarily.
or
perhaps there is another strategy (there must be one, US has been preparing for war for a long time now)?
I'm really curious if you know the answer to this question as a person who will be in the middle of the action!
I would be very grateful for your reply.
Regards,
Elena
PS. Извинявам се на участниците във форума, че писах на английски, но бих искала да избегна превода, (който неизбежно внася неточности), за да получа отговор на родния език на запитания.

Re: A question to Jon
Hello,
I honestly do not know how the U.S plans to disarm Saddam through military force. They don't tell grunts like me that information. The way I think they will do it follows along your second plan more. I think that if Saddam is removed from power, his troops will be less likely to listen to him as well. There is no point in following a horse off a cliff. Perhaps they will send lots of inspectors as well. I really don't know anything about it though.
The reason I write through this forum is because I’m interested in foreign politics very much. I don’t read very much U.S news because I find it can be very biased. I listen to the BBC quite a bit.
As for how they will be taken out, I do not know that either, but I have heard that tactical missiles will be used very very much to take out things like electricity, communication, radar, and transportation. They will basically take anything out that would aid the troops in continuing to fight without actually attacking the troops themselves, too much. This I’m sure will cause civilian casualties but over all, I think it could prevent thousands of troops from dying. Ours, as well as theirs. I just hope that this war will have much less casualties than the first gulf war. That’s all for now. Write back.

Re: A question to Jon
Who cares how Saddam will be disarmed.
There is a lot more behind the whole thing.
Saddam is just the first step and a necessary one in the war against terrorism.
Stay tuned. There will be a follow up!
There is always beginning to everything. Iraq happened to be the beginning!
