The ecstatic state of Now is one of life's supreme joys. The critical thing to remember about the ecstatic state of Now is that it comes and it goes. Furthermore, there is nothing you can do that will reliably produce it and there is nothing you can do to reliably keep it. The good news in all this is that when it goes it does not go because of something you have done or haven't done. You do not author the power to screw it up!

So if there is nothing you can do (as an author) to make it happen or to keep it from happening, where does that leave you? The answer of course is quite simple:

It leaves you here, Now!

There is a certain amount of misconception regarding this dis-identification with a personal entity in the form of a particular organism. It is not that the organism is left defenseless to fend for itself without any operating element, when there is dis-identification with it. All that happens is that the exclusive identification with a specific organism as the individual separate doer disappears: there is no sense of personal doership in regard to the acts which take place through that organism. What was earlier accepted as a vehicle for personal doership is now seen as a vehicle, like all other such organisms, for the functioning of Totality. With the loss of personal doership, the person does not cease to care for the organism – indeed, to do so would specifically mean a personal doing, through a negative kind of doing. In other words, everything goes on as before – only, whatever happens through this organism is merely witnessed, along with whatever happens through other organism, as part of the functioning of Totality
