I was surprised to read this a little bit flawed presentation of the role of I-thought and I-feeling in the process of emancipation. First comes the feeling of I, then the thought of Me and Mine, and finally the meditation on the difference between Me (in the form of aham asmi) and the Ultimate Self (Paramatman). It is this nirasmita meditation that makes possible the final Self-Realisation.
Not every state where the Me-thought does not arise is indicative of kaivalya. Take for instance the subconsious states of mind or the state of deep sleep without dreams. There is no action of Ahamkara in these states, but still the subject abides in samsara.
