Wizz Air offers free tickets to help stranded SkyEurope passengers
2006. 02. 14.
Wizz Air, the largest low fare - low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe offers free tickets to help SkyEurope passengers stranded as a result of cancelling 5 Polish routes.
Following SkyEurope's recent move to significantly downscale its Polish operation by cancelling the Warsaw-London and Warsaw-Bratislava routes and not starting the earlier announced Poznan-Amsterdam, Krakow-Stockholm and Krakow-Bologna flights, Wizz Air offers free tickets (only taxes and charges are to be paid) on selected routes representing alternatives to the cancelled SkyEurope flights.

Company angered by ridiculous Wizz Air statements.
SkyEurope is outraged about the incomplete and misleading information by Hungarian Wizz Air after announcing the cancellation of some routes out of Poland.
In fact SkyEurope announced yesterday a major development in Central Europe by opening its 5th base in the region, in Prague. Despite the announced reduction of certain flights out of Poland in conjunction with the opening of its fifth base in Prague, SkyEurope Airlines, Central Europe's leading low-cost low-fare airline is growing further on the Polish market by adding 7 new destinations to its route network, offering this summer 61 weekly flights out of Poland to 16 European destinations.
SkyEurope is the most successful and best financed low cost airline in Central Europe, and the only publicly listed airline in Central Europe, listed on the Vienna and Warsaw stock exchanges since 27th of September 2005.
SkyEurope has consistently built its bases in Bratislava, Budapest and in Poland and is continuing its unprecedented growth. By entering the Czech market and establishing another base SkyEurope reinforces its leading position in Central Europe. Like every well managed airline, SkyEurope is continuously reviewing the profitability of its routes in every given market, and takes decisions to secure a healthy business.
The cancellation of two existing routes and deferring the start of other routes that were initially planned are not related in any way to a reduction of SkyEurope's engagement in Poland.
SkyEurope will further enhance its presence in Krakow by placing 4 of the six brand new Boeing 737-700 Next-Generation airplanes that will join the fleet in 2006 at Balice airport, making SkyEurope the airline with the youngest operating fleet in Krakow.
"We are the leading and largest Central European low cost airline. Our focus is to grow our network in Central and Western Europe. Poland is and remains a vital part of our business that is growing in line with our company", said Christian Mandl, CEO of SkyEurope Airlines. "We have made another big strategic step by opening a base in Prague that will further increase the attractiveness of SkyEurope as the preferred carrier from and to Central Europe."
The total number of affected flights from Poland is 27 per week. Only 2 existing routes were canceled. SkyEurope opened in total 40 flights per week from Prague. In Poland SkyEurope will offer this summer 61 weekly frequencies to 16 destinations
Wizz Air has in its short history cancelled a lot of flights and reduced many more. Here are some examples of Wizz Air's routes cancelled from Poland:
Katowice – Gdańsk
Warszawa – Barcelona
Katowice – Budapeszt
Katowice – Munich
Katowice – Berlin
Katowice – Malmö
Katowice - Amsterdam
Moreover and to prove false Wizz Air's statements and its ridiculous campaigns, the airline just recently quietly reduced capacity on several routes, including Warsaw – Paris/Beauvais, Warsaw – Stockholm/Skavsta, Warsaw – Kaunas, Katowice – Dortmund, Budapest - Paris/Beauvais, Budapest – Amsterdam, Budapest - Warsaw, Budapest - Stockholm/Skavsta, Budapest – Brussels/Charleroi, Budapest – Frankfurt/Hahn, many of them left with only 3 weekly flights, even on prime markets like Paris or Amsterdam, proving clear difficulty to compete with SkyEurope on SkyEurope's traditional routes or to offer reasonable alternative to SkyEurope's prime airports, voted by passengers.
Contrary to Wizz Air's statement SkyEurope Airline is not taking, but adding more capacity to Polish markets, including 5 new routes from Krakow (such as Edinburgh, Birmingham, Brussels, Torino and Naples) and is looking to announce more routes from Poland soon. However, SkyEurope will always remain fair airline and brave to cut underperforming routes as the only listed and transparent low fare airline in Central Europe, which can be demonstrated also by not charging its passengers hidden surcharges:
Войната между Wizz И Sky Europe започна!
Да видим и от Хемус какво ще направят.Като знам ,че са от ТИМ сигурно ще започнат да свалят самолети
