PETA WILSON CHOSE MOSCOW OVER CANNES

On June the 20th, australian actress Peta Wilson arrived at the Sheremetievo-2 airport. She was at once blinded with the flashes of the photocameras, that surprised and pleased her. During the press-briefing, which took place in the airport, she admitted that she didn't expect that many reporters. She was surprised even more when she found out that she is very popular in Russia. Though she remembers than when Russian tourists saw her in Sydney, they screamed out loud "Nikita!".

For Peta Wilson, Russia is an exotical country, that's why she didn't come here to relax, especially because during the 30-hour flight she managed to get a good sleep. She wants to know what the Russians do, how the live. Peta plans to visit Moscow's night clubs, and maybe even the theater.

She dreams of visiting St. Petersbourg, which she considers the symbol of all Russia. She always thought that Russians and Australians are alike and now she can check her theory.

From Russian directors, "Nikita" knows only Nikita Mikhalkov, who was the one who invited her to the festival. The actress considers him to be the symbol of Russian cinema. Wilson has general knowledge of Russian culture: for her, it's passion, fire, hospitality. Moscow Film Festival is the first for the actress. She was invited to the Cannes Festival, but she wasn't interested in it. But she went to Moscow. Peta regrets not knowing Russian language, because she'd like to communicate with people without the interpreter. But there is a probability that she'll have to learn it soon enough - she'll probably play Russian girl in the Russian-Canadian movie.

AnyaB's comment - FYI: Nikita Mikhalkov is a really famous Russian director. He received an Oscar for Best Foreign Film ("Tired With The Sun"). One of his movies you might have heard about is "The Barber of Siberia" starring Oleg Menshikov, Julia Ormond and Richard Harris.

XXIIIth MIFF's star Peta Wilson spent the night from 21st to 22nd of June studying the club life of our sleepless capital. Back in the airport she said that she had been preparing - (sleeping for 30 hours) and now she's going to party. Nikita visited "Propaganda", "The Bridge" and "Red Riding-Hood" (AnyaB in: these are obviously the night clubs of Moscow, but I can't say anything specific about them... ) These nightclubs were recommended to the star by her producer Bob Van Ronkle (sp?). She returned back to "National" (AnyaB again: I think there's a mistake, since they earlier stated that she's staying at "Metropol" hotel) at 4 a.m. And she spent the whole morning of 22nd of June resting and preparing for a VIP banquet. A hairdresser, a cosmetologist. As a result, she was looking great at 2 p.m. At the interview with Dmitry Debrov (this is MIFF's host) she looked fabulous: he's a brunet in gray suit, she's a bright blonde in the blue dress.

Then Miss Wilson went to the office of the radio station "Echo of Moscow" to give a live interview. Natural and funny, Peta charmed all the listeners. And even sang to songs by the special request. Her answers were interesting and sincere. The question about whether she is still is working as a model, Peta answered that , she's already a grandmother in the comparison to the modern stars of the catwalk. But she also said that she doesn't miss any single fashion show in Hew York and Paris. "To attend a fashion show in Paris is the same as attending a circus of beauty", - she remarked poetically. As it turns out, her favorite brand of clothes is Italian "Costume National", and her favorite place on Earth is her home, where she can lay her head on the knees of her Mum, where Grandma will make tea.

After the interview, Peta Wilson took a walk on the old Arbat (Anyab in: that's a very famous street in Moscow), and visited antique shops. Since she's at the moment in the process of building a house on a lonely hill in Australia, she now especially needs some beautiful old things for the decor. Wilson said, she was in the state of a shock from the beauty that she saw in antique shops. She promised that she'll go back and buy something, even though she'll have to worry about getting big things to Australia.

Finally, Miss Wilson had to return to the hotel to rest before the banquet in her honor. At the banquet, Peta - Tiffany's "face" at the festival - wore her favorite diamond jewelry, which she was given as a present yesterday. By the way, she's still in the state of an euphoria from this present. "Russia is a treasure box, which laid closed for a long time. And I'm the person who opened the lid and ;looked into that box. I'll spend five more days in Moscow and I'll always will be looking into it, until I get to the bottom, she said in excitement.
