Yugoslavia-russia-problems Moscow
Chernomyrdin and Ahtisaari had initially been expected to leave for Belgrade at 0900 GMT. But they later put the trip on hold and started a new round of talks.
``Itar-Tass has learned that because of the new situation, Viktor Chernomyrdin will fly from Bonn to Moscow rather than to Belgrade, while the Finnish president will fly to Helsinki,'' the agency reported. The change of plans could not be confirmed.
Tass quoted Chernomyrdin's spokesman, Valentin Sergeyev, as saying in Bonn that U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott had proposed several changes which ``were not agreed or included earlier.''
Sergeyev said the changes were ``partially unacceptable for Russia.'' He gave no details of the U.S. proposals but said Chernomyrdin's plans would depend on whether a common approach could be found in the last-minute consultations with Ahtisaari.
