Bulgarians and Romanians to be Visa Free!
Monday, July 02, 2007
From Monday 30 July 2007, Bulgarian and Romanian passport holders will no longer need visas to travel to New Zealand for visits of no longer than three months.
The New Zealand Government's decision to waive the requirement for visitor visas for Bulgarian and Romanian citizens is consistent with New Zealand's treatment of citizens of Member States of the European Union.
Bulgarian and Romanian visitors travelling visa-free to New Zealand must genuinely intend a temporary entry stay in New Zealand for a lawful purpose such as holidaying, sightseeing, visiting family and friends, amateur sport, or business consultation. They must not intend to undertake employment or a course of study (other than a single course of study or training that lasts no longer than three calendar months). They will still need to be able to produce the following in order to gain entry to New Zealand:
a passport valid for at least three months beyond intended date of departure
travel tickets
evidence of funds for maintenance during their stay in New Zealand (at least NZ$1 000 per person per month of stay or NZ$400 per person per month of stay if accomodation has been pre-booked - proof of the pre-booked accomodation will need to be provided)
Visa-free travellers arriving at New Zealand airports or other ports who are unable to meet these requirements may be refused entry to New Zealand.
Good luck!
