Living in BG is not even an option in my mind. I can see myself sending my kids there for a month at a time to learn the language and hang out with my family, but ONLY IF THEY AGREE TO IT. The people that I want to see and live in Bulgaria know that they are always more than welcome to come visit. They are just as reluctant to fly as I am, so sometimes I have to compromise and do go to Bulgaria for a week or two. It's always been a bitter sweet experience with more doses of bitter than sweet.
I guess u can say I've embraced America completely. Of course, I don't think this place or these people are perfect,...they are far from it, but I feel comfortable hereand that's all that matters to me. I fit in here. I didn't feel like I fit in Bulgaria. My parents knew about my feelings and plans at age 12-13. They're used to it now.
Bulgaria, the way people think, the things they talk about, the way they regard each other, the things they care about, the things they are interested in, the music they listen to, the TV they watch.....all these things leave me baffled and speechless.
(these, of course, are all general statements. there are tons of wonderful people living in Bulgaria)
Lastly, I can honestly say that I can live out the rest of my life without setting foot in Bulgaria ever again. Wouln't be a problem, either.
Just my personal .....opinion/experinece/philosophy, whatever u wanna call it.
