CA-ON-Toronto-Programmer Analyst

Our client, a "world-class" retailer, is looking for a Sr. Programmer Analyst
in the Toronto area to design and develop a system broadly accepted as being
one of the most complex in the corporation. A Sr. Programmer Analyst is needed
to evaluate technical context of complex application packages and to directly
supervise a group of programmers/analysts (including contractors) in the development
and/or maintenance for a large highly complex project (i.e. a number of systems
average complexity). This includes ensuring the deliverables of the team meet
functional needs and high quality standards. You will be accountable for the
quality and timelines of individual deliverables and are expected to provide
management work within project teams in order to produce high quality team
deliverables in a timely and cost effective manner. Other key responsibilities
include providing a variety of specialized consulting services internally to
various project teams with respect to programming and analysis, researching
and recommending to senior management and business partners new innovative
technologies in the industry, perform systems analysis, systems architecture
and functional and may supervise a group of programmers/analysts (including
contractors) in the development and/or maintenance for a large highly complex
project (i.e. a number of systems at least average complexity). You will also
be responsible for training and educating other team members and more junior
programmer analysts to share and transfer knowledge and expertise, this may
be formal training and/or ad hoc as required. And you will assist in the creation
and management of system architecture, development and implementation phases
of the project plan, including WBS, resource allocation, adherence to baseline
and project deadlines and provide expertise and coaching in the utilization
of DMR methodology, including selection, and completion of DMR deliverables.
To qualify, you must have experience/knowledge in IIS, ASP, VB, XML development
and relational databases, as well as, E-commerce development and application
architecture experience in a multi-tier environment. You must have experience
in source code management and experience managing multiple environments in
support of team based development. You must have technical team leadership
experience/aptitude, SDLC methodology and management experience, formal education
in Computer Science or Computer S/W Engineering and Project Management experience.
You must also have experience in UML, Rational Rose, BPWin, ERWin, client/server
and distributed system development, Internet Technology: HTML, XML. JavaScript,
Java (J2EE, server side programming: servlets, JSPs, EJBs etc.), SQL, UDB,
(DB2). Ideally you will have a minimum 5 years experience as a Programmer Analyst,
excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills and are able to
work with a minimum amount of supervision. This position will require you to
