 Bayern unveil Audi partnership |

Audi will be Bayern Munich's official automobile supplier from the beginning of the new Bundesliga season, it was announced on Thursday. "Both Bayern and Audi are leading players in their respective fields, so this partnership is ideal and will benefit both parties," chairman of the Audi AG board Dr Martin Winterkorn told a Munich press conference. The deal comes into effect on July 1st and will run until June 30th 2008.
Audi will supply a total of 50 vehicles for the use of Bayern's players and management ready for the opening of the new season in August. Guests at all official engagements undertaken by the reigning Champions League and World Club Cup holders will be able to take advantage of Audi's tailored transportation service, while the luxury carmaker will become one of Bayern's premium partners, with corresponding privileges during stadium events and at post-match press conferences.
"We always wanted to partner with Audi, as the fit with FC Bayern is perfect," Bayern Munich AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge declared. For the manufacturer, the association with Germany's most successful football club would enhance Audi's reputation as a key player in the sporting world - the company is already heavily involved in sports such as skiing - and devlop its image as a dynamic sports brand.
Bayern Munich, with its 95,000 members and more than 120,000 supporters organised into fan clubs around the world, represented all that was best in German football and would perform an ideal ambassadorial role for the Audi brand, Dr Winterkorn added. "Football at the highest level, as exemplified by Bayern Munich, extends beyond its own sporting boundaries to become an experience shared by the whole community," he continued. Bayern Munich was itself a recognised brand property nowadays, standing for quality, performance, dynamism and added value - precisely the same core values espoused by the Audi brand, he said.
