Madonna has run into trouble with husband Guy Ritchie over her desire to have son Rocco educated privately.

The singer wants to send her son to an exclusive British private school, while Swept Away director Guy is set on state-provided schooling.

Ritchie's reluctance to send his son to an exclusive educational establishment may stem from his unhappy childhood spent at a number of boarding schools, culminating in his expulsion from Stanbridge Earls School.

He says, "I'd like to send Rocco to a good state school, but Madonna wants him to go to private school, so I guess that's what we'll end up doing. Our thinking right now is that he will spend half his education here and half in the States."

Madonna's seven-year-old daughter Lourdes, from her relationship with personal trainer Carlos Leon, is privately educated in a London girls school. (WENN)
