Сори за тъпия въпрос, ама защо яде толкоз РАМ

Тоз линукс?
Пиша free -m и виждам следното:

И така през цялото време, един браузер да отворя, и компът започва да бучи, все едно излита. Е 512 РАМ е това, нали за ГНОМ или КДЕ стигало 128, какво е това чудо? Трябва ли да си правя суап партишън задължително? Имам чувството, че и един ГБ РАМ да му сложа, пак ще я изяде. От Ksysguard като му килна очевидно излишните ми за момента процеси, пак същата работа. Промяна няма голяма.

Ядрото на Linux смята, че няма причина паметта да стои свободна и си взима от нея без да се притеснява
Вече като на някоя програма й потрябва - намаля кешта и й дава колкото иска.
А това за браузъра е странно. В момента ти пиша от лаптоп с Debian, на който: total used free shared buffers cached

А, ок, щом принципът е такъв да ми пълни РАМа догоре...
иначе аутпута от командите е такъв:

И така да е, пак е по-добре от другите теми, но щеше да е по-добре да се дадат характеристиките на състемите, за да може 4овек да сравни със своите. Ето например моите:
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 428 MB in 2.01 seconds = 213.43 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 146 MB in 3.08 seconds = 47.45 MB/sec
а компа е Sempron 2,4+, дъно 748K7AA (чипсет sys964) и хард Exelstore 80G SATA, но не помня модела, а не се сщам коя програма може да ми го "изпее". Вярно е, че компа е тип "секретарка", но за толкова пари - толкова, и все пак ми се струват слаби резултатите. Какво е мнението на по-разбиращите ?

с тая идея постнах, но не ми се стори удобно да казвм директно "мойта е по-голяма" :)

да покажа, че машината ми не е нищо особено обаче пак работи сносно.
Изглежда компютъра на автора на темата е най-бавния, затова и бавно тръгват нещата му. Все пак е добре да се видят конкретни замервания ... може да е наред, а може и да не е.
