Тема Jackson on Board for New 'Hobbit' Filmsнови

А сега де - на кой да вярваш?!

Filmmaker Peter Jackson has signed on to produce two movies based on author J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, after resolving his legal feud with studio bosses over unpaid royalties.

Jackson has been involved in a long and bitter dispute with bosses at New Line Cinema after claiming he had not been properly paid following the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which he directed.

But Jackson has now settled the disagreement and has confirmed he will be on board for the two new films, both of which are prequels to Lord of the Rings.

He says, "I'm very pleased that we've been able to put our differences behind us. We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth."

A director for the two new Tolkien movies has yet to be announced.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lord of the Rings executive producer Bob Shaye insists director Peter Jackson will be involved in The Hobbit.

The pair famously fell out over the profits of the fantasy trilogy, but Shaye believes the filmmaker should have input on the prequel.

He says, "I really respect and admire Peter and would love for him to be creatively involved in some way in The Hobbit."

Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is tipped to direct the film.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has been assured he will film the movie adaptation of The Hobbit after all by legendary film producer Saul Zaentz.

There was uproar last week when Jackson announced he had been told by bosses at New Line Cinema his services were "no longer needed" in the making of The Hobbit and another unnamed LOTR prequel, because of an ongoing legal dispute over royalties from the fantasy trilogy.

Leading actors Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood, who play Gandalf and Frodo in the LOTR films respectively, have both publicly expressed their dismay at the news, with Wood calling the dismissal "very foolish."

However, Zaentz, who owns the screen rights to Tolkien Enterprises, says, "(The Hobbit) will definitely be shot by Peter Jackson.

"Next year, The Hobbit rights will fall back to my company. I suppose that Peter will wait because he knows that he will make the best deal with us.

"And he is fed up with the studios. To get his profit share on the Rings trilogy, he had to sue New Line. With us, he knows that he will be paid fairly and artistically supported without reservation."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Actor Elijah Wood has blasted New Line Cinema bosses for refusing to sign Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson to take charge of The Hobbit.

The New Zealand filmmaker told fans recently, "[Studio boss] Mark Ordesky told us that New Line would no longer be requiring our services on The Hobbit and the LOTR prequel."

Wood, who played hobbit Frodo in all three of Jackson's film adaptations of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic novels, admits he is dismayed by New Line's decision.

He says, " I think the jury is still out. We'll see what happens--but I was very disappointed by the news.

"I think it is very foolish."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen is considering his own involvement in The Hobbit, after discovering Peter Jackson will not direct the upcoming movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic book.

In an email to a fan Web site earlier this week, Jackson revealed bosses at New Line Cinema had told him he would not be signed to make Tolkien's classic or another Lord of the Rings prequel.

Jackson and his production company, Wingnut Films, are currently embroiled in a legal dispute with New Line Cinema over royalties from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

And McKellen, whose Lord of the Rings character, Gandalf, also features heavily in The Hobbit, has serious doubts about returning to Tolkien's fantasy world without Jackson.

He says, "I'm very sad as I should have relished revisiting middle Earth with Peter again as team leader.

"It's hard to imagine any other director matching his achievement in Tolkien country."

--------------------------------------------------

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has blasted the Hollywood bosses behind the planned movie adoption of The Hobbit after they turned down his offer of directing the fantasy 'prequel.'

The book, which takes place years before the events in Lord of the Rings, was expected to be filmed by Jackson, but New Line cinema, who made the blockbuster trilogy, is now looking for another director to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien's work onto the big screen.

Jackson reveals he was to not only direct The Hobbit, but there was another prequel in the works as well, covering the events leading up to those depicted in Lord of the Rings.

He says, "[Studio boss] Mark Ordesky told us that New Line would no longer be requiring our services on The Hobbit and the LOTR prequel. This was a courtesy call to let us know that the studio was now actively looking to hire another filmmaker for both projects.

"We are very sorry our involvement with The Hobbit has been ended in this way. This outcome is not what we anticipated or wanted, but neither do we see any positive value in bitterness. We now have no choice but to let the idea of a film of The Hobbit go and move forward with other projects."

This is the second high-profile film that has slipped through Jackson's fingers, after the cinema adaptation of the computer game Halo, which he was producing, was dropped by studio bosses because of the escalating costs.

Не става.

Ще режисира Тинтин за Dreamworks.
Ето и доказателствата:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Andy Serkis is reteaming with director Peter Jackson in "Tintin," the DreamWorks movie trilogy collaboration from the "Lord of the Rings" director and Steven Spielberg.
Although DreamWorks would not confirm, it is believed Serkis will play the role of Captain Haddock, a temperamental sea captain, in British scribe Steven Moffat's adaptation of the comic strip created by late Belgian animator Herge.
In the comics, Tintin is a young reporter and world traveler who is aided in his adventures by his faithful dog Snowy and later accompanied by characters like Haddock, Professor Cuthbert Calculus and bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson. The books, hugely popular in Europe, have been translated into 50 languages with more than 200 million sold.
The three feature films will be made using performance-capture technology and produced in digital 3-D. Jackson and Spielberg are each directing an installment, with the director of the third movie yet to be determined.
Serkis played the wretched Gollum in Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" films ,and appeared in Jackson's remake of "King Kong." His other credits include "13 Going on 30" and "The Prestige."
