Prenuptial agreements will be legally binding in Bulgaria if one of the spouses is a foreigner, under the International Private Law Code the government adopted.

The contract is signed by a couple before their marriage in which they agree who should get what, when and if they divorce. Experts say it could be a very useful means of avoiding possible conflict on other matters eg. if a couple come from mixed religious background or different countries it could lay out the intention regarding religion or education of children.

The code enables those married to foreigners to choose the legislation to settle scores in court, says Yordanka Zidarova, member of the team that drew up the code.

The document settles the private relations of citizens and companies from different companies.

In cases of divorce, the alimony payment will be fixed under the legislation of the country in which the recipient lives.

The code also makes possible the divorce of foreigners, whose home country bans it. They only have to prove professional or private long-term links with Bulgaria.

Sofia City Court will solely enforce the rulings of foreign courts prior to Bulgaria's accession to the European Union.

Искаш да кажеш че досега такива договори подготвени от двамата им адвоката и подписани законно не са били признати в съдилищата?
